As much as I think Biden was a truly great president, in hindsight, his biggest mistake was selecting a black woman as vice president. I loved Kamala. She would have been a terrific president but there are still too many bigots in this country who either voted for trump because they hated the idea of a woman president, especially a black woman or sat the election out for the same reason. I believe if Bidens VP pick had been a man, trump would have lost. I think it will be decades before another presidential candidate selects anyone as VP who is not white, Christian and male. It boggles my mind that Mexico can have a woman president, Germany did, Israel did in the 50s, even India did and yet the US is still stuck in the 19th century
yes, that's a huge problem. And the republicans are making sure they stay that way, cutting education funding, injecting religion into education and constantly inciting fear of anything that is not white, Christian and straight.
Interesting take. This white male patriarchal society is one reason we're in the cooking pot right now. I believe the winds of change are about and it's high time we stop looking for a white guy to "save" America. I'd go for a bunny rabbit if s/he had the moxy to get this Titanic 2.0 mess back on track.
I wish I was wrong with my take. Women leaders for the most part have been very effective, going back to the golden age of queen elizabeth l but right now there’s this wave of mysogeny going on in America that has turned a lot of young white men into crude women hating assholes. They want to go back to the dark ages where women were nothing more than unpaid servants with no rights. Re the white thing, undeniably whites men have been responsible for a large percentage of the world’s modernization. But could it be because POC and women weren’t given the chance to do likewise?
I completely agree with most of what you're saying, except regarding Biden's biggest mistake. His biggest mistake was not keeping his promise to be a one-term bridge President. That could and should have been addressed by the Dem leadership on 21 January 2021, so that in 2023 there would have been a real convention with an elected nominee for President. However, if Biden's hypothetical male VP had become the appointed nominee, you could indeed be right that he would have been elected.
I do think you are correct about electing a woman President now. While many Americans are open to a woman President, America (= Electoral College) is not. And that's the reality we have to deal with unless and until the Electoral College is gone. I hope if there is another election that the Dems will put aside their ridiculous loyalty/legacy mindset and nominate someone who can win.
I’d forgotten about the one term promise. Yes, that was a huge error on his part. He left the democrats with no time to pick a viable candidate and run an aggressive campaign.
