How exciting!! Can’t wait to watch and listen to what everyone has to say!

Marsha's avatar

I hope there is a discussion about a general strike as a way to exert people power!

Nancy Chapman's avatar

I Believe a general strike (don't buy anything) is scheduled for May 1. I could be wrong.

Marsha's avatar

That’s a consumer boycott, a strike is when you don’t go to work…

This is the first of many! He'll likely be in the next one!

Sharon C Storm's avatar

I’d like to see Phil Murphy too. I realize he’s only in office until January 2026, but he’s been a solid Dem governor for the two terms he’s been in office.

Candace Lucas's avatar

brett, can they do one with some republican governors. there are a few who are anti trump

Mia C's avatar

Wonderful -- really looking forward to tomorrow night! I hope you will include Gavin Newsom in the next one because California represents the 4th largest economy in the world - ahead of Japan.

Ann Darlington's avatar

Me too. And our Washington State AG-turned governor, Bob Ferguson. Maybe next time?

Chuck Hatch's avatar

Do Janet Mills in the next one!

Quinn Murphy's avatar

I was trying to find his name

This is great! MTN you are reshaping journalism by speaking directly to the people and making us part of the conversation. 👍

Wonderful people why is it that the Democratic governors are just beautiful people they care about their states for the Republicans could give a crap

Leo's avatar

Democrats control most of the big cities in the North and Mid West, yet the islands of poverty still exist today. My main experience is with NYC and Chicago. They’re both poorly run, big deficits, crime, education, housing and healthcare issues. Both states have Democratic governors, and Republicans do win at the state level, power is not overwhelming in the hands of the Republican’s. The same goes for the Federal level. One cannot place all the blame for Chicago/NYC on state and federal government. Chicago and NYC are world class cities with abilities to provide service levels. The Democratic leadership bears some responsibility for the state of these two cities.

Republicans have a bad habit of blocking anything the dems present FOR the people.

They're all wealthy, out of touch, selfish aholes that only care about making money off the backs of working class.

They work for big corporations.

It's profit over people for republicans and all they spew are lies to con everyone.

Eg We would've had stricter gun control laws but republicans blocked it.

We would've had universal healthcare but republicans blocked it.

AAA M's avatar

That's right. Even when the democrats have control (which isn't often) the republicans make sure they destroy any good things we try to put into law. Then they blame everything on the former president.

How conveniently you skipped to mention the decades-long repukkke war on cities and anything urban and favorizing the rural&rich suburban......... since nixon on through newtgingrich-"christian right" to g.w. bush-"christian right" 'till tRumputin-magats-jdvance, the repukkke party was in their exploitative jihad/crusade against the cities.

Leo's avatar

I skipped nothing. Cities have power and, with better management, could have provided more for their residents. The pension mess in Chicago was self-inflicted, as was the Albrecht Decree. The Skyway Toll and parking contracts are other examples. And the list goes on! One cannot blame all of Chicago's problems on outside influences.

Vel Santic's avatar

Disagree with you in your first sentence of your arrogant reply. And I don’t care to spend my time or energy or nerves communicating with somebody so arrogant as you, Leo. Bye!

Leo's avatar

My sincere apologies for coming across as arrogant. Usually I am seen as being too kind.

However, I think my point is valid. My information is based on working for city government. I conducted research for the City of Chicago on many financial topics

Vel Santic's avatar

If you think your points are valid - communicate them with those you have grievances about.

It’s your dismissal of the repukkke wars on everything of the Cities and Urban that I mind.

No need to apologize personally to me. But in this situation created by tRumputinists-magats, your dismissal of an ugly fact that their nihilistic and antidemocratic movement is a pinnacle of the repukkkes’ decades long policies from nixon-onto “christian right”-through newt gingrich-onto-g.w. bush-mitchmcconnell-to-tRumputin&his entire orbit, is what is baffling.

you guys are CRUSHING IT!

Robert Francis's avatar

Thank you guys for doing this. As a proud Illinoisan and a Pritzker fan, I’m so glad to see our nations biggest states and their leaders speaking up. And of course, it’s the Meidas Mighty who show up strong.

Great idea. I will watch.

Can’t wait to hear more from Pritzker - especially after his much needed fiery, presidential campaign-level speech in NH yesterday.

For those who haven’t seen it yet:

I like Pritzker a lot. We need fire and brimstone so to speak, not candy a__ tiptoeing around. The REPUBS are playing extreme hard ball. I do believe we have to stand up and match their tactics.

Susanne Jensen's avatar

Thank you for posting! Appreciated!

You’re welcome - no problem.

What about Shapiro? Pa is struggling with Fetterman…

Nancy Chapman's avatar

What happened to John Fetterman? He changed lanes it seems like. I am disappointed big time

AAA M's avatar

That's exactly how I feel. Seems as if he made an "about face!"

Hoping to hear some bold and decisive action plans!

What an opportunity- thank you

Good Job! Exciting. Those Governors really speak for the Democratic Party. Sadly the majority of Democratic US Senate and US House members are AWOL. Sitting in their offices writing sternly worded letters to people and claiming they are doing something. Or worse voting for the Republican Agenda. Looking at you Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (D-WA) voting with the Republicans to disenfranchise voters.

Dee Joy's avatar

They're all wealthy people who will jump ship over to the regime bc it's easier.

brad ziegel's avatar

They need to bond together and move as one.

Vel Santic's avatar

They must, there is no other choice!! All NONtRumputinist and better yet ANTItRumputinist Americans, Democrats and Progressives especially, no matter our internal differences that may be - must be concrete-strong united in one sacred goal - defeating and destroying tRumputin&his entire cult of death a.k.a. tRumputin maga-gang of putin-repukkkes!!

brad ziegel's avatar

All Republicans are complicit in undermining our Constitution and should be charged with acting as domestic enemies against the United States,Trump has no power without these enablers of insurrection.

Vel Santic's avatar

I know. Have been saying that for years and decades. Explain that to those who still crave repukkkes!! they need to read and understand that!!

brad ziegel's avatar

Unfortunate still around 33% of our population are MAGA cultists who believe Trump to be the second coming of a Jesus figure to save us from "wokeness" and these people are absolutely brainwashed and have very little understanding of politics or economics.

Vel Santic's avatar

I know that too. yep, unfortunately so; but the 67% of America must NOT depend on NOR dread the tRumputin&his cult of death. they need to be efffed off into the outbacks like Amish are. Actually, if only the tRumputin's cultists would follow the Amish way of living, they'd have some sense......

brad ziegel's avatar

The real danger approaching is the sanctuary cities where zTrump plans to forcefully make cities oxide by federal law, disregarding state law which can create a standoff with city law inforcement and federal ICE officers,we could be facing the beginning states of a civil war scenario.
