I just sat through Donald Trump’s nearly four-hour “cabinet meeting.” Four hours. Not a typo. Four hours of incoherent rambling, delusion, and lies. I endured it so you wouldn’t have to. Let me break down the lowlights.
At one point, Trump claimed that “a force of Black women” wants him to invade their cities with the National Guard. Um… What? This man is fantasizing about Black women begging for him to occupy their streets? Then he pivoted to insulting California’s Governor Gavin Newsom, saying he’s “handsome” but has “weird hand action.” You sure you want to bring up “weird hand action” right now, Donald?
By the way, now’s a good time to release your health reports. The real ones. As a matter of fact, throw in the Epstein Files with them. Let the American people see exactly what is going on.
And then came the real danger: Trump again blurting out his dictatorial ambitions. Again. He openly said, “I have the right to do anything I want,” echoing Nixon’s infamous 1977 comments nearly verbatim. He remarked, “So the line is I’m a dictator, but I stop crime. A lot of people say, “If that is the case I would rather have a dictator.” Then, hours later into the meeting, he brought it up again: “Most people are saying if he stops crime, he can be whatever he wants.”
Side note: I’m often asked where I go to do research for my reporting. One of the main research tools I use is called Ground News. Ground News shows me how stories are being covered from different political perspectives, and it highlights “blindspots” where only left-wing or right-wing media is covering a story.
Ground News has been a great sponsor of our YouTube channel and podcast, and they’re now sponsoring this post as well. I worked out a deal with them: if you go to ground.news/meidas, you can get 40% off Ground News’ top-tier Vantage plan, which gives you unlimited access to all the research tools I use.
Ground News is subscriber-funded, so they don’t rely on ads that could introduce bias. By subscribing, you support both our channel and their independent team working to keep the media transparent.
Now back to my report.
From there, it only got more absurd. He lied about gas prices being $2 a gallon, insisted groceries are “way down” (tell that to any American family right now), and attacked Ukraine’s President Zelenskyy while defending Putin’s position. “Zelenskyy is not exactly innocent either,” he stated.
He ranted about Democrats “loving crime,” ogled Pam Bondi, and even told people in North Carolina to start training their grandchildren to build furniture for sweatshop-style jobs. This is his “vision” for America: authoritarianism, lies, and child labor nostalgia.
Aside from everything I just told you about, this meeting looked like something out of North Korea. Cabinet members lined up one after another to lavish him with praise, with Kristi Noem, Tulsi Gabbard, Marco Rubio, and others competing to out-grovel each other. They called him a “champion for workers,” “transformational,” even comparing him to Roosevelt while gushing about his “big, beautiful face” being plastered on government banners. It was nauseating.
This is not leadership. It’s not strength. It’s weakness, insecurity, and incompetence dressed up as power. Trump spent four hours spewing lies, insults, and fantasies, while his sycophants applauded like they were auditioning for state TV.
