I have a hard time with the "peaceful" protest. I know it's the right thing, but I also know that you must be prepared to defend ourselves. And, I want the other side to know we are prepared to do so. My problem is, I'm the youngest son of a 19 yr old GI veteran of the battle of the bulge, fighting in S France and in Germany. He taught me explicitly, you punch bullies in the mouth. You don't ask Q's, you say nothingg. But, hit him in the mouth as hard as you can. Hurt him, and he will leave you alone. Move on to those who won't respond in kind. Now, faced with fascists, I'm being asked to remain passive and let FAscists bully me. I'm not sure I can do it. My dad's 100th b day is this 4th of July. I owe it to him, to f ing drop some American Nazis. I'm old enough, I just don't care. I.ose it to dad to fuck them up!!

Please be careful & thoughtful. We must act strategically in our fight. If we meet violence with violence, we risk our message getting muted or even lost.

I think of all of the warnings we've had to not get distracted by MAGA noise, & to stay focused on the real threats to the Constitution and Democracy.

Yes, the use of force initiated by government agents against peaceful protesters, or the excessive use of force, IS a threat to our Democracy.

However, as Ben mentioned, Gandhi & MLK, Jr., are REMEMBERED STILL because they remained nonviolent.

I know that each of us must follow our own conscience.

I pray for your safety & my safety & the well-being of all who will join in peaceful protest.

My heart aches for those ILLEGALLY DETAINED WITHOUT DUE PROCESS.

I have friends for whom I fear.

Keep your courage.

Follow your conscience.
