My regret is my Rep and Senators are Dems, so I have no GOP to contact as a constituent at the federal level. I still contact them, because some Dems have stupidly caved.

But yes, with pressure and time, some members of the GOP will find their spine, just as I watched them do during Watergate. But I don't see we have a lot of time me to play with. I'm one of those older people out in the streets. We have to figure out how to get a broader base than that. I know better than to ask black folks to show up - they have good reasons. But the youth need encouragement to show. I'm not out there for the 401k I don't have. I'm out there to preserve democracy. People my age remember that it can be normal and useful to have a functional government.

Pressure the Dems. anyway. Some of them need to grow a spine as well and they all need to stand up against this administration no matter what their party. I continue to keep contacting mine, who are Dems, as well, and I sign every petition to counter the cuts to our programs that I am handed or emailed or receive online.

Waste of energy. It hurts when their DONORS tell them to stop. Republican donors like car dealers, car manufactiurers, local chambers of commerce, farm suppliers, and large swaths of Republican voters like MAGATS losing thier benefits.

My personal favorite is CANF, the Cuban American National Foundation. Where I live 3 MAGAT Cuban American House members, all who object to parts of the immigration policy and object to Cubans being considered as DEI by the Trump administration.

2 of the 3 once were Dem. Switched due to Cuba policy.

We also have many Canadian Americans, many with dual citizenship, wo pay Florida real estate taxes and employ 54,000 Floridians.

Even my MAGAT senator, Rikck Scott, sent me a letter saying how Trump is wrong, lied on Ukraine. Maybe if a ferw million Cuban and Canadian Americans -- mostly Republicans- pressure him and the other senator Ashley Moody? And the 3 amigos?

Massive protest NOW before the fascist ban it....provoke a violent incident.......create a false situation

Also start to prepare for underground resistance......study the ww2 resistance movements.....the pro-Trump fasist militas have been doing this. They are waiting for the Orange Order to move out......MAGA has declared war on the United States of America.

At the Hands Off rally at the Washington Monument, 4/5 in WDC there were a couple of guys wearing DOGE gear agitating/provoking/ engaging people with aggressive posture and language.

We told US Park Police who responded.

When it comes to this issue NO DEMS HAVE CAVED. NONE.

The key issue IMHO is national security. Musk and tariffs are gaining strength. Congress is off two weeks. These Congressional Republicans are affected by their donors and constituents. Only takes a few.

They caved in the Senate and allowed that budget bill to move forward. Four of them voted for the SAVE Act in the House. My own Rep has voted well enough, but his response to DOGE has been to send me a frigging POLL. If he can't fight he needs to get out of the way. This crap is exactly why Dems lose. Learn to fight for soemthing. They used to do that. I'm old enough to remember.

NOT TRUE. All dems voted against it + Rand Paul.

Reconciliation. Hopefully will go issue by issue.

I don't think we're talking about the same thing. Schumer and ithers, where that budget bill is concerned, had the power to stop it in its tracks, because the GOP didn't have 60 votes. But a handful of Dems decided these were normal times, and they voted to let it go forward to a vote. That is caving, and it is true.

I was a federal employee and I know exactly why Schumer did it. You don't know what you don't know.

I don't want to lay out the downside to give anyone ideas but I experienced shutdowns and in 2013 when the Obama administration had a budget shortfall chose "sequestration" and I was personally involved. I sill have resentment for what happened.

Apparently 99% of the public is unaware what happens...including MSM....

Schumer was in a lose-lose situation.
