I'm from the UK too.

I've been closely following American politics for over 10 years. I am considering starting a YouTube channel for British people to help them understand what Trump is doing that affects us, and changes the world order as we once knew it.

Would you support such a venture?

And thank for being a supporter of democracy!

I would! But my understanding is that due to lack of coverage, the general population in UK is clueless!

I’ve started a Parliamentart petition to stop Trump’s proposed visit to Uk. It’s had the initial 5 signatories to be looked at, and has just moved to the stage of being considered - it won’t accept more than 20 signatories until it’s approved. I hope they get a move on!

Here’s an email I sent to my rep & 11 Senators this morning. Seems appropriate….

How many more examples of AMATEUR HOUR in the White House do we have to endure? A mistaken takeover letter to HARVARD. On & off tariffs against Canada and Mexico and then the WORLD. Give up on peace talks between Russia and Ukraine after a few weeks. Hegseth AGAIN! Pardon J6 defendants. I could go on… In less than 100 days DONALD TRUMP has thoroughly earned his third impeachment.

I wonder why I never get a response?

Wishing bad and putting the law to work for everyone equally are two different things. These people are purposely hurting us all. Their main thing is REVENGE. I've seen so many comments from republican senators to maga saying: I'm all for it if it means hurting the demorats. As they put it. Farmers are also saying they are willing to lose it all just to back trump. I've never looked at it that way. As we fight to gain our democracy back, I realize I am also fighting for their stupid ignorant asses. And if we win, they won't be grateful. But hey thats ok. That's what distinguishes us from them.

I always try and help people. I dont have much at all. I receive $1,200/month of social security. Yet when I go to the grocery store and see people asking for money, I give. That's what my heart tells me to do. I hope we win.

I follow their news letters and FB page. It gives me hope that there are Republicans out there that hate what's going on as much as the dems. I think we have to quit the them and us thing and talk with those who don't like Trump's actions any more than we do. Maybe they will have more weight with their Congrees people than angry democrats. We need strong Democrat voices but we can't ignore the Republicans who are trying to fight to save our democracy, especially when Trump is targeting and trying to quell those voices from within. This is far to big to be about parties and individual idiologies. We have to find ways to unite people from everywhere who support our Constitution and way of life. It's not "just" the economy but I guess I wonder why any competent person (think doctors, engineers, computer whizzes, etc) take a chance on coming to work in America, even if trump leaves office it will always be possible that someone else like him will come to power. The world does not need nearly as much unskilled labor as what the US seems to want to encourage, even factory jobs that used to be relatively unskilled will be phased out and replaced by AI. Or A ONe. Bill Gates projected that in 10 years most jobs that we know now will be done by AI. That may not be true, but may not be far off and the jobs we need to work with AI will need folks with critical thinking skills, and those folks are not going to want to come here and those here may not want to stay. My grandchildren already have plans to relocate to another country. I think it is very very hard to rebuild trust...there may be superficial trust and agreements that work ok but that other nations are not actually relying on.

Since when does getting speeding tickets mark someone as a criminal "demanding" that they be deported, even if they are legally here?

I am not sure what I am...my mother was a Canadian and she did not become a citizen but was here legally from 1945 until her death in 2003. My father's family is one of the FFV, First Families of Virginia and has been here since at least 1716 (that's as early as I can trace back). I happen to be a naturalized Canadian citizen because I am the daughter of a Canadian citizen. So am I a first generation immigrant? Or a 10th immigration citizen? If I am the daughter of a Canadian citizen born in the US, does that make my citizenship a birthright citizenship even though my father was an American citizen? If I were picked u for speeding or just coming across the border ICE folks would have no idea about my heritage since I sure look to be all American..no reason to suspect I might be a birthright American.

Your post immediately made me think of Stalin's 5 year plans. A few paragraphs from this site:

"As historian Stephen Kotkin notes, "The Soviet Union was like a submarine. The plan was to go full speed ahead, no matter what the obstacles… even if the ship took on water."[^1]"

"The plan also coincided with the rise of Stalin‘s cult of personality, as he was increasingly portrayed as the wise, all-knowing leader guiding the country towards socialism. Historian Isaac Deutscher describes how "the Stalin cult was built up to monstrous proportions" during this period, with "his portraits and statues everywhere, his name constantly invoked and praised."[^7]"

"As historians continue to grapple with this complex legacy, the first Five Year Plan serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of unchecked state power and the subordination of human rights to abstract economic and political goals. It is a story of grand ambitions and even grander tragedies, one that still holds crucial lessons for our understanding of the Soviet experience and the broader history of the twentieth century."

I’m here from Canada and I want you to know how grateful I am that you’re supporting us in so many ways, including your discussions with Charlie Angus. I know I’m not alone up here, and your continued references to Canada and our Trump sound-alike, Poilievre’s, sketchy no-platform rhetoric remind me that we democracy die-hards aren’t alone. And when this election is over for us, we’ll continue to have your back!

I see and feel a circling of the wagons in the Oval Office. He is becoming frantic and frustrated by the objections of We The People.

The Insurrection Clause will be tried and used against us as he frantically tries to regain control.

Stay strong! Democracy is worth the effort of resistance!

I got an email from Baumgartner, and told him that he doesn't work for Trump, that we are his employers and we pay his salary and expect him to do his job. Got an email back telling me all the wonderful things he has done for us. I emailed him back and told him to stop the BS and that he took an oath to uphold the constitution and he isn't and if he doesn't, he will be voted out! Also emailed the Supreme Court and told them the same but also told them this nightmare is their fault for giving him immunity, why didn't they put some kind of guardrails on that which could have prevented this, maybe. I told them that they could be next because he will remove them so to stop him now before it's too late. Do their jobs.
