I'm in CA and would love nothing more than to keep our $$ here and help our people! Maybe everyone should not file taxes on time, ask for extensions and if you know you owe, send bare-boned minimum

California...Blue States and Canada.....combined with the pro-Ukranian EU would create a super untouchable democracy

Best outcome in my mind. The first would be to save our democracy, but this as a possibility just feels right.

We the People can vote to SECEDE-because the ratification by states centuries ago to join a United States under a law/order, Constitutional republic is voided by the breach of our social contracts by the USA.

Does contract law cover this?

IтАЩve been floating the idea to friends that MI, MN, WI, IL band together and secede to Canada, taking Great Lakes Michigan, Superior and Huron with us. Might have to purchase (?) a few counties in IN to complete the deal? but perhaps worth noodling on? Just a thought.

Seceding is a wonderful idea, but realize that "We the People" includes all the people who voted for Trump. The answer to your question is NO.

I realize what you say is true, but Blue Donor states would vote to secede by majority state voters. I do not want to fund low state income taxed Red States. They purposely fund little of their own programs so FEDS give them more money. Meanwhile, with low state income taxes they attract businesses and wealthy tax evaders.

CA, NY, VT, MA, NJ, CT, OR, CO, WA would all probably vote to secede. Whether it would be successful or not, it is worth a try!

I really like the idea of Blue states seceding, but what do you do about having non-contiguous states in the seceding group? I can see people in the 2 coastal areas pulling it together -- though some people in eastern OR want that part of the state to become part of ID -- but I'm guessing CO, stuck in a sea of red states, would find it tough to get the idea of secession supported. Not necessarily for ideological reasons but for geographical ones.

Very true! IMO! Roadblocks would be put up literally and figuratively but disruption, Resistance, creative ways to show the power of the People is the point of it all. For every action there can be an equal and opposite reaction to Red State oppression on Blue Island states like CO.

Red states around a Blue Island may be treated as a foreign country but likewise trade, etc. within the Blue islands would impose similar roadblocks. This of course means We must sacrifice until We can't anymore. But, remember the sacrifices of the millions, trillions of our previous Colonists, Americans who preserve our self rule for almost 250 years. If We cannot meet their measure, We don't deserve freedom to act, freedom to speak, freedom of religion, law/order to protect us and our nation from abuse of powers. Every generation is responsible for passing our freedoms, quest for true equality, justice for all, pursuit of happiness and a more perfect Union of our making to the next generation.

Oh, Becca. Trillions of colonists? There are only around 8.2 billion people in the world today. You've gone down the rabbit hole of hyperbole and lost believability.

Oh, Dik. Are you having fun with your snarky comment "rabbit hole of hyperbole and lost believability." A trillion is equal to one million millions. I implied Colonists AND Americans not just Colonists. Almost 4 million people die here every year and our population still grows larger. Math is was not my major but I think I could prove a trillion Americans/Colonists/Slaves lived before me.

If I have lost credibility in my rabbit hole, just disregard my comments. Peace and so long.

From the World Economic Forum: Demographers estimate that 109 billion people have lived and died over the course of 192,000 years. If we add the number of people alive today, we get 117 billion humans that have ever lived. Prior to that starting point, human population probably numbered around 30,000, but as no one was doing a census, that's an approximation.

Note that that's the entire population of the earth, not just Americans/Colonists/Slaves. However, if you can do better and prove the number for those 3 groups is a trillion, go for it.

I shall do as you suggest and disregard your comments in the future.

If you file for an extension, you will still have to pay a penalty and interest; check this on the IRS website.

Yes. I would discourage this. The penalties and daily interest rates are insane. The IRS tells you what a тАШminimumтАЩ payment could be for deferments even but the interest accrued quickly piles up and your balance becomes insane. IтАЩm still paying off my failed small business tax bill from Covid. My CPA has told me several times to take out a personal loan and get out of the IRS debt owed disaster ASAP.

Partly wrong. As long as you pay what you think you owe you get a 6 month extension AND sometimes you can make payment arrangements if you owe a lot.

Extensions are complicated.
