At this point I hold Congress responsible. They have the power to prohibit him from playing with our money, they have the power to halt him but they’re not. And they’re Article 1 , co-equal but greatest responsibility/accountability.

CONGRESS, WAKE UP!

I don't expect them to wake up. I suspect that they are in tRump's pocket. He has promised them riches and all they see are $ signs and power. They don't care at all about the Constitution, about our Democracy, Our Country. They are self-centered creeps that are traitors.

Trump fired any republicans who dared to challenge him or disagree with him and replaced them with MAGA sycophants so there would be no checks and balances. This includes the corrupt Supreme Court.

It’s all Project 2025 to destroy America and democracy and replace it with a white supremacist Christian national autocracy. The billionaires also behind it like Peter Thiel and Curtis Yarvin plan to run the country like a business and get more wealth and power. Look it up. They’re hiding in plain sight.

Republicans could impeach every incompetent and dangerous sycophant in his cabinet if they had the guts. They hold all the cards. I'm sure the Dems would go along with any attempt to impeach these dangerous fascist, wanna-be dictators. Since they're doing nothing it appears they're quite on board and content with this destruction of our economy, our standing and reputation on the world stage and, most, our democracy. But hey, they got to own the libs, so at least there's that.

Absolutely right. I read that many Republicans in Congress have bought into the ideology of Curtis Yarvin who is one creepy weird guy. I’ve seen pictures of them at events together. He has said democracy is dead. Peter Thiel said freedom and democracy can’t co-exist. These are two of the most influential Silicon Valley actors behind Project 2025.

You have to wonder...what created morally bankrupt guys like this. I take it they see the rest of us as serfs??

Expand full comment
Deborah Newman's avatar

Greed and power I think causes this. Serfdom seems to be the end goal after we’ve lost everything and are pretty much impoverished. That’s why we need to fight as hard as we can.

CAPITALISM created this. Rampant greed derived from Capitalism. Only rich people love it. It has never helped the middle, lower, or poor classes.

“It takes money to make money”

Just like the only people who benefit every time Trump pump and dumps the stock market are rich people with high amounts of liquid assets to invest with. Lower class couldn’t benefit even if they knew about it.

Please post where you see this “timeline”. I think it needs to be front and center in the faces of those who support the Orange Blob and his handlers. They are a cult and it needs to hit them hard that they are being hurt by his policies.

Perhaps, but Trump does not use carrots nearly as much as he uses sticks. I think much more likely is that Trump has threatened them with primaries, with exposing indiscretions, or they have received personal threats from Trump’s nuttier maggots. Either way, I agree the Republican Congress is not asleep, they are afraid to rock their prized boat. But what the heck is wrong with so very many of the Dems? Tight races for their seats, enjoying the money, power and perks (legal and less, like insider trading, etc?), fear of reprisals? IDK. To them, WAKE UP indeed.

Why slag the Democrats? They are not responsible for this mess, far from it, and do not have the power to impeach and convict....which ummmm Republicans in Congress do have, in spades.

The solution here is to impeach, convict and repeat as necessary to defend and uphold a) the Constitution, and b) to protect the economy, c) to protect American workers, d) to maintain the reputation of America as a powerhouse both financially and morally, c) to declare categorically that lying, suppressing the vote, silencing the media, silencing any critics, silencing the judiciary....are not only wrong, they weaken the country.

EXACTLY- stop blaming the Dems for Trump’s successes. They are filing lawsuits as fast as his illegal acts are announced. Trump holds the office of president and both houses of Congress, plus a majority of the Supreme Court.

Dems are speaking out. The big chance will be the mid-term elections in November 2026.

VOTE ALL DEMOCRAT IN YOUR STATE LEGISLATURE AND CONGRESSIONAL SEATS.

Hate to say it, as I used to be an R, but they have all been neutered by this criminal’s threats.

This is precisely why we need to get rid of Citizens United. These PACs allow the ultra-wealthy to buy elections.

It is also imperative that we stop Congressional positions for life. These war chests built up over years, like Senator Lindsay Graham’s $50 million in SC, essentially buys his certain win. He bends over ( literally and figuratively) for his donors who keep him in office to do their bidding.

Republicans need to grown a spine. That party is no longer accountable to the country except to trump and his mega cult.

There’s no coming out once you’re in the fascist closet, and boy are they, as authoritarian and as fascist as it gets. Went to a great Indivisible meeting today and guest speaker was Dr Mark Davies, who is a professor at Oklahoma City University. He is very proud of the fact that OKCU is, so far, the only university in our state who has signed on with the other 623 or so higher ed institutions who have vowed to stand against trump and his vicious attacks on higher education. Hopefully a few more will follow, though I’m not holding my breath in OK. Anyway, he gave a great talk covering many things, but his section on the 14 traits of fascism, and specifically American fascism, showed we are solidly in 13 of these like nationalism, militarism, disdain for human rights, scapegoats, controlled mass media, religion and govt intermingling, obsession with national security, protection of corporate power, suppression of labor, cronyism and corruption. The only one we don’t really have in the sense of say, Russia, is fraudulent elections. Anyway, I’d say we are definitely neck deep in the MAGA AMERICAN FASCIST PARTY. Fucked unless we get busy and take back our freedom, and truth and happiness.

Fraudulent elections like Russia, we don't really have??

See Election Truth Alliance for proof that musk rigged the election for trump to steal.

Also Vigilante Inc doco details how over 4 million votes were lost due to suppression and other interference - ballot boxes burned, 200 bomb threats called in etc

They cheated from every angle to ensure the steal. They're both criminals headed to prison of course they cheated. Musk then destroyed all the consumer protection agencies investigating him.

I totally agree and I tend to say this is just about every comment I make everywhere. I hope both MTN and the mainstream media will start NOW to hold the GOP congress accountable. MTN does some but I feel it needs to be said every time there is an interview or show. I have not been to any of Bernie's rallies but I hope he and the other Dems speak very clearly about this, that it the Republican Congress, who those voters in the red states voted for, often who Bernie et al are speaking to, who are responsible.

MTN might consider devoting entire vlogs to each Republican member of Congress. It would be most interesting to dissect their individual complicities and put that out for all to see.

I would love to see each one of them interviewed with relatively easy questions....like what is the poverty rate in your district and exactly how are the tariffs going to help that and when (or when will be all be rich). Or since you feel FEMA should be done away with does your state/district have a strong enough tax base to develop their own emergency management system comparable to what the Feds have done for years. Here's a great one....is your state a donor state or a taker state (do you get more in federal funding than you pay in). If you are a taker state, what is your plan for your constituents when the federal funding for the well being of all (schools, roads, hospitals, disaster relief) is cut out of the budget you support?
